Vom Giiwedin Shepherds is a developing German Shepherd breeding program focused on black long coat dogs with an emphasis on correct structure, stable temperament, sound movement, and versatility.
Our goal is to preserve and produce German Shepherds that embody intelligence, confidence, trainability, and reliability — capable of succeeding in both show and working environments while remaining loyal companions in the home.
Every future breeding is thoughtfully planned using health-tested dogs, strong pedigrees, and a long-term vision for the breed.
We are building our foundation with intention, prioritizing quality over quantity and striving to produce well-rounded dogs that reflect the true versatility of the German Shepherd Dog.
Our Story
Our journey began with a passion for the German Shepherd Dog and a deep admiration for everything the breed represents — loyalty, intelligence, versatility, and companionship.
Growing up with German Shepherds taught us firsthand just how special these dogs truly are. Their loyalty, intelligence, and unconditional love leave a lasting impact, and over the years we have been fortunate enough to experience what many describe as their "soul dog" within this breed.
That connection is what inspired the foundation of Vom Giiwedin Shepherds.
We have invested significant time into researching pedigrees, learning about the breed, and carefully selecting the dogs that will form the foundation of our program, including traveling long distances to bring these bloodlines into Canada.
For us, this is about more than simply breeding dogs. It is about doing things the right way, continuing to learn, and placing dogs into homes where they will be valued not just as pets, but as lifelong companions and family members.
We are not focused on being the biggest — we are focused on building something consistent, responsible, and respected over time.
Looking Ahead
We are currently developing our foundation dogs — allowing them to mature, complete health testing, and be properly evaluated for structure, temperament, and overall quality.
As part of their development, our dogs are being introduced to training, exposure, and continued evaluation, with the goal of progressing toward titles and proven ability over time.
Future breeding's will be planned only once our dogs meet the standards we have set for our program. We are committed to doing things properly, without rushing the process.
As our program progresses, we will eventually begin accepting a limited number of approved homes for our future litters.
We will carefully match each puppy to the home that best suits its temperament, drives, and overall needs. Final placement decisions are made with the best interest of each individual dog in mind.
We prioritize homes that understand the commitment of owning a German Shepherd and align with our program values.

Only health-tested dogs are included in our program, with no exceptions. Soundness and long-term health are the foundation of everything we build— all our breeding dogs undergo SV or OFA evaluation, supported by PennHIP analysis and comprehensive genetic screening.

Every pairing is carefully planned with intention — focusing on improving structure, temperament, and overall quality, never convenience.

We are committed to a limited, responsible breeding program. We do not prioritize quantity, and every decision is made with the well-being of our dogs in mind.

Every dog we produce remains a part of us. We are committed to supporting our owners through every stage of their dog's life, offering guidance, honestly, and care whenever it's needed.
Return-to-Breeder Commitment
Any dog bred by our program will always have a place with us. Our dogs are never to be surrendered to shelters or rehomed.

Our kennel name, Giiwedin — meaning “North Wind ” — reflects our connection to the land, our roots, and the commitment to honoring both the breed and the environment they are raised in.
